E3 2010: Sony Computer Entertainment Highlights

Sony Computer Entertainment presented their E3 2010 press conference today at the Shrine Auditorium today. Here is a rundown of some of the highlights:

PlayStation Move will be available in Europe on September 15, in North America on September 19th, and in Japan on October 21st. The PlayStation Move controller is priced at $49.99. The PlayStation Move navigation controller is priced at $29.99. A PlayStation Move bundle is being offered for $99.99 which includes both the PlayStation Move controller, Navigation controller and PlayStation Move Sports PS3 game. Finally, a $399.99 PlayStation Move bundle will be available, including everything you need to use the PlayStation Move. There will be 15-20 games available at the PlayStation Move launch. PlayStation Move games will be priced at a $39.99 MSRP.

PlayStation Plus PSN service announced: A new pay for use and optional online service.

– Exclusive features for subscribers: early demos, beta invitations, discounts on PlayStation Store DLC, automatic downloads of game updates, and more.

PlayStation Plus will be available for $49.99 a year. Some PSN games will be provided for PlayStation Plus subscribers (Fieldrunners noted as one of the offerings). Three months will be offered for free initially.

PS3 exclusive game content:

EA exclusive content:

Medal of Honor – Deuce exclusive character. Limited Edition exclusive to PS3: Medal of Honor Frontline included. (Sounds like PS3 is partnering up with Medal of Honor like Xbox 360 has partnered with Activision for Modern Warfare 2.)

Dead Space 2 – Limited Edition exclusive to PS3. Will support PlayStation Move.

Portal 2 announced for PS3. Will support Steam Cloud and automatic updates on PS3. Coming in 2011.

2K Games exclusive content:

Mafia II exclusive content and missions available on day one.

Ubisoft exclusive content:

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood exclusive mission available on PS3. Multiplayer beta exclusive to PSN later this year.

PS3 3D games showcased:

– Killzone 3 live 3D demo of single-player campaign. Will be available February 2011. Will be fully PlayStation Move compatible.

– Other PS3 3D games announced include The Sly Collection, GranTurismo 5, MotorStorm Apocalypse, Crysis 2, Mortal Kombat, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, Tron Evolution, NBA 2K11, and more.

PlayStation Move games:

– 40 developers working on PlayStation Move games.

– Newly revealed PlayStation Move games:

Sorcery – A third-person action game where you play a sorcerer armed with a magic wand (or PS Move controller). Flick a PS Move controller to shoot from your wand. One to one movement. Other movements included shaking a potion and drinking to activate special powers. The crowd seemed pretty impress by this one, as it presented as pretty solid third-person action adventure. Estimated Spring 2011 release.

Resident Evil Gold Edition will get a software update enabling PlayStation Move compatibility.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 – Downloadable update will enable PlayStation Move control. A demo will also be featured on PlayStation Move demo disc.

Heroes on the Move (working title) – Combines iconic PlayStation characters in one PlayStation Move game: Ratchet, Jack, Clank, Sly Cooper and more.

Partnership with Coca-Cola announced. PlayStation Move games will be featured on Coca-Cola products, so expect to see more of it in your grocery store!

PlayStation 3 games showcased –

Twisted Metal for PS3 announced – Sony literally drove in David Jaffe on stage at the end of their press conference to unveil the much rumored and anticipated game. It’s currently estimated for a 2011 release. Online team deathmatch was shown (supports up to 16 players). Flying vehicles make their debut in Twisted Metal, as demonstrated by a helicopter. The new “Nuke” gameplay mode showed how players on each team had to destroy faction statues to win.

LittleBigPlanet 2 – Competitive Modes showcased. Mini multiplayer games include timed button pressing, bumper car-like games, and more. Game creation shown included shooters, racing games and even an RTS.

– Gran Turismo 5 – November 2, 2010 release date announced

– Infamous 2 – Trailer shown. 2011 estimated release date.

PSP games showcased:

Invizimals – Will use upcoming PSP camera for augmented reality gaming.

God of War Ghost of Sparta – Trailer shown. Coming from Ready at Dawn on PSP.

EyePet for PSP

The 3rd Birthday (Parasite Eve spiritual successor)

Persona 3 Portable

On the PlayStation Network:

– More than 50 million registered accounts.

– The Tester Season 2 casting announced (thetester2.com)

– Video delivery service coming to Canada.
