Zippy Lately (April 19 – April 25, 2010)

1. Tokujo Kabachi!!

I haven’t finished a J-drama in awhile sadly, but thankfully just in these last couple days I noticed the final episode of Tokujo Kabachi!! had been subbed! TK is at it’s core an occupational drama built around the lives of two Administrative Scriveners. Scriveners are unique to Japan, and while they don’t have the full authority of a lawyer, they are able to work with clients regarding legal documents, certain rights, and at least according to the show help clients on a personal level. The cast is led by ARASHI’s own “Sakurai Sho” and the lovely Maki Horikita (known best perhaps as the lead female in Hana Kimi). As usual, I won’t give a full review now; however, I’m certainly enjoying the series enough to where if you’re curious about the legal occupations of Japan, or just love the actors above, I’d recommend this show immediately to you.

2. Kick-Ass

Here’s a movie that has enjoyed some pleasant hype lately, at least pre-debut for sure, and now that it’s out well my fellow BBAMAJAM collaborators and I are just curious enough to see the film. To be honest I have no idea what to expect out of this movie, so I’m trying to be as positive as possible. Hopefully we can get one or maybe a couple of the site’s writers to review this movie.

3. BBAMAJAM Club’s 1st Anniversary!

While the website itself is only 3 months old as of April 20th, the actual club BBAMAJAM has just turned 1 this weekend! We had fun club trivia, cake, and the general sort of cavorting and enthusiasm one would expect at a fun club meeting. While this doesn’t technically take place in the time frame of this week’s Zippy Lately, my exuberance from the event bounded over to now. Plus I feel it’s only right that the site, a spin-off from the club, mention something about the club’s anniversary. Great job to all who created the club and to those who keep it going!
